FAQ
How do I select the right drive for my application?
There are many factors to consider when selecting the best drive for your application, so we suggest starting with the filters on this page to limit the number of results shown. For example, if you know that you need a drive that can operate from a 24 volt DC power supply, select that in the Supply Voltage filter. From there look at the Control Modes and other filters to further reduce the list of drives.
What are Control Modes?
Control Modes are the primary control functions you’ll need from your drive.
Which Applied Motion stepper drives can be commanded with LabVIEW?
All stepper drives with an RS-232, RS-485, or Ethernet communication port can be set up to interface with and receive commands directly from LabVIEW. As long as the drive is set up for SCL power up mode (PM2 command setting), it is capable of receiving and responding to messages sent from LabVIEW over a Serial or Ethernet connection. For more information, see our application notes page.
Why doesn’t my stepper drive show up in ST Configurator?
The ST Configurator software supports all current generation stepper drives (including ST5, ST10, STAC5 and STAC6 models) and integrated steppers (STM and SWM models). If you’re using ST Configurator without a drive connected and trying to find your drive’s model number in the Drive list, make sure that the correct communication type is selected. ST Configurator filters the model numbers available in the Drive list based on the communication type that is currently selected. See figures below.
