Q programs are made up of 12 program segments, with each segment large enough to hold 62 commands. 12 segments per program by 62 commands per segment gives a total of 744 commands per program that can be used to create the desired motion and machine control for a given application. In the screen shot below, the 12 program segments can be seen in the lower-right third of the screen. All program editing is done in this section of the screen. To the left of the program segments is a Command Script / Responses window which shows both the commands sent to the attached Q drive as well as the responses from the drive. Below that window is the Command prompt, which is used for sending commands to the drive in parallel with the Q program.

The data register monitor is useful for monitoring any of the Q drive's internal data registers during programming and start up of the application. This monitor is available by clicking on the "Data Monitor" button of the main screen. To activate the data register monitor, the Q Programmer application must be polling the drive. Polling is turned on and off with the middle control button on the main screen (shown in yellow and with the text "Not Polling" in the main screen shot above).
